Cotiviti to Share Innovative Approaches in Preventing Fraud, Waste, and Abuse at the 2023 NHCAA Annual Training Conference

FWA investigations and analytics leader to explore modern strategies to prevent FWA through advanced pattern recognition

SALT LAKE CITY, November 6, 2023 – Cotiviti, a leader in data-driven healthcare solutions, will present on preventing healthcare fraud, waste, and abuse (FWA) at the 2023 National Health Care Anti-Fraud Association (NHCAA) Annual Training Conference in Dallas, Texas, taking place November 6–9. Cotiviti’s experts will share insights into the role of advanced analytics in FWA, how to execute prepay investigations with meaningful financial impact, and how combined prepay and postpay investigation creates better collaboration with payment integrity counterparts.

“Amid the challenges faced by overburdened special investigative units (SIUs) within health plans, prepay and postpay analytics driven by advanced pattern identification are playing an increasingly vital role in preventing inappropriate payments,” said Erin Rutzler, AHFI, CFE, CPC, CHC, vice president of FWA for Cotiviti. “By integrating these technologies with human expertise, Cotiviti is empowering health plans to move from recovery to prevention, creating a better experience for both payers and providers.”

Cotiviti draws upon more than two decades of experience in FWA management and prevention, serving over 100 payers of all sizes nationwide. In 2022, Cotiviti drove more than $8 billion in medical cost savings from improper claims across all payment integrity clients, including 21 of the top 25 national payers. Cotiviti’s FWA solutions include Claim Pattern Review, which helps clients achieve prepay savings of approximately 0.30% annually on professional claim spend, and FWA Management, which delivers ROI of up to 15:1.

In their speaking session at the NHCAA Annual Training Conference, Rutzler will join Angela Mitchell, AHFI, CFE, client services manager, to share examples of how effective prospective data analytics plays a critical role in identifying potential FWA that is missing in many SIUs today. The discussion will cover the importance of end-to-end solutions to not only combat FWA, but to also stay in compliance with regulations and guidelines.

Cotiviti, a platinum sponsor of the NHCAA conference, will also demonstrate its Claim Pattern Review solution to health plans at booth #412. Cotiviti’s session will take place Tuesday, November 7, at 10:50 am in Reunion Ballroom E. Learn more about Cotiviti’s presence at the NHCAA Annual Training Conference at this link.
