Cotiviti Achieves HITRUST CSF® Certification to Manage Risk, Improve Security Posture, and Meet Compliance Requirements

HITRUST CSF Certification validates that Cotiviti is committed to meeting key regulations and protecting sensitive information

ATLANTA, October 28, 2019 – Cotiviti, a leader in data-driven healthcare solutions, today announced that its Billing Accuracy (also known as Prospective Claims Accuracy or PCA) and Clinical Chart Validation (Claims Auditing Tool) solutions have earned Certified status for information security by HITRUST.

HITRUST CSF Certified status demonstrates that Billing Accuracy and Clinical Chart Validation (Claims Auditing Tool) have met key regulatory requirements and industry-defined requirements, and that they are appropriately managing risk. This achievement places Cotiviti in an elite group of organizations worldwide that have earned this certification. By including federal and state regulations, standards, and frameworks, and by incorporating a risk-based approach, the HITRUST CSF helps organizations address these challenges through a comprehensive and flexible framework of prescriptive and scalable security controls.

This achievement is a significant milestone in Cotiviti’s efforts to achieve HITRUST CSF Certified status across the organization’s complete healthcare portfolio. Cotiviti has previously achieved and maintained this certification for its Risk Adjustment, Quality and Performance, Clinical Validation, and FWA Solutions.

“With more than 200 healthcare payers entrusting us with their data, which represents more than 150 million patient lives across our solutions, we have invested significantly in ensuring our security infrastructure meets the highest standards,” said Matthew Hawley, Cotiviti Senior Vice President of Operations. “Cotiviti’s achievement of HITRUST CSF certification offers our clients confidence that we keep their members’ information protected.”

“HITRUST has been working with the industry to ensure the appropriate information protection requirements are met when sensitive information is accessed or stored in a cloud environment,” said Ken Vander Wal, Chief Compliance Officer, HITRUST. “We are pleased that Cotiviti has taken the steps necessary to achieve HITRUST CSF Certified status, and we expect their customers to have confidence in this designation.”
